About
I have always been a builder.
In the first part of my career, as a custom home builder in Lake Tahoe, California, I discovered the delight that comes from taking individual pieces and creating something that becomes much more than the sum of the parts.
Building homes taught me many lessons that I have carried with me on my career journey. There is a real, tangible sense of accomplishment when building a house; you can literally see and touch the fruits of your labour.
But I've always felt deeper pride in the intangible parts, the organisation and orchestration required to create something big. I learned the importance of solid foundations, the value of attention to detail, the payoff of quality in the long run, and the discipline to translate a vision of a plan into an embodied reality.
Most importantly, I learned the value of teams. I have built my career on relationships. From leveraging the strength of trust with my fellow craftsmen and subcontractors, to building strategic rapport with old school construction managers in the mines of Western Australia, to working in cross functional teams at dynamic start-ups, I understand how success is built on collaboration and enduring connections.
My path has taken me a long way from home building: into safety leadership on major resource projects in Australia, and, for the past decade, into building the operating backbone of clean-energy businesses as they've scaled from a start-up to a national footprint.
The through line has been consistent: working with people to find solutions, often taking something that doesn't yet have a shape and building it from the ground up, always mindful of foundations, details, quality, and vision. I'm now particularly drawn to the innovative, collaborative solutions rapidly emerging to build a cleaner, more democratised energy world, and I am most committed.
Outside of work, I volunteer with Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club, spend as much time outdoors as I can, and explore creative outlets in writing and music.
